White Spruce, Picea glauca, is a common northern conifer that can grow 15–30 m (50–100 ft) tall. Its needles are stiff, sharp, and approximately 2 cm long, arranged spirally around the branches, giving the tree a dense, pyramidal shape.
White Spruce is highly adaptable and can grow in a wide range of soil types, including sandy, loamy, and clay soils, and it tolerates both wet and dry conditions. It prefers full sun but can survive partial shade. The tree produces small, slender cones that provide food for birds and small mammals. White Spruce is widely used for timber, windbreaks, and reforestation, and it provides important habitat for wildlife in northern forests.
