Sandbar Willow - Sold in bundles of 10

Zone 36 / Age 1/1 / Size 20cm+

Sandbar Willow, Salix exigua, is a species of willow native to most of North America, except for the southeastern regions and the far north. It is commonly used for stream and lakeshore stabilization due to its extensive root system. Sandbar Willow is well suited to deep, wet lowlands, wet meadow sites, lake shores, and other areas with a high water table.

Sandbar Willow is a small shrub, usually growing to 3 metres or less in height. It forms dense colonies connected by a shared root system, so many shrubs are often found growing together. Its long, narrow, linear leaves are distinctive, measuring approximately 10–16 cm in length.

Note: trees and shrubs will not be shipped, you will be required to pick them up at a location in Bancroft, usually on the first weekend in May. Please be sure to provide your contact information so that we can confirm pick-up details.
