Red Maple, Acer rubrum, also known as swamp, water, or soft maple, is one of the most common deciduous trees in eastern and central North America. It has an average lifespan of 80–100 years and is valued for its adaptability and vibrant seasonal colour.
Red Maple grows at a moderate rate of approximately 12–18 inches per year and typically reaches heights of 40–70 feet, with a spread of 30–50 feet. It performs best in wet sites located in full sun to partial shade. Soil should be acidic to neutral, as alkaline conditions can cause pale, unhealthy foliage and reduced growth.
