McIntosh Apple - Sold as individual stems
McIntosh Apple (Malus domestica ‘McIntosh’), is a cold-hardy apple that originated in Ontario, Canada, in the early 1800s. McIntosh apples are tender, juicy, and mildly tart, making them excellent for fresh eating, applesauce, and baking.
The trees are suitable for hardiness zones 3–8 and require six to eight hours of sunlight per day. They prefer moderately rich, well-drained soil. When planting, incorporate manure, compost, shredded leaves, or other organic material to a depth of 8–12 inches to support healthy growth.
McIntosh apple trees require cross-pollination from a different apple variety that blooms at a similar time. Good pollinators include Cortland, Empire, Spartan, and Northern Spy. Plant within pollinating distance (generally within 30–60 m) for reliable fruit set.
