American Plum, Prunus americana, also know as Wild Plum are trees that grow quickly and spread shoots from their base, requiring periodic thinning in small spaces. These shrubby trees reach 10-25 feet, producing edible fruit ideal for jams, jellies, and pies. Ornamental in mid-spring, they bloom with fragrant white flowers that attract pollinators. While the fruit is edible, leaves and pits are toxic. Plant multiple trees for better fruit production.
